An introduction to myself – Autism

My name is Matthew Boux. I was born with autism, and diagnosed at age 2. I am now 21 years old and doing my best to navigate this crazy world. This life is a very interesting and unique thing, and it really is what we make of it. Autism allows me to see the world in a unique way, and allows me to see view points that many people do not see as easily. Of course, it does come with many challenges, but I am trying to stay positive and make the best of it.

In 2016, I started the Matthew’s Autism Journey Facebook Page. Over the span of 5+ years it has grown to hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of people impacted. I started it as a way to share my journey with the world, and a way to connect with others who have been through similar experiences as me. I took several breaks from the page over the years to focus on my life, but I am committed to continuing my advocacy into the next chapter for many years to come. I am a kind-hearted and caring person who just wants to make a difference in the world for the people that need it most. I have tried several advocacy projects, many of which didn’t work out but some which also did work out. That just shows that you have to keep trying in life if you want to improve.

An Introduction to Myself- Powerlifting

In addition to my autism advocacy, I have another true passion in my life which is powerlifting. I started lifting weights in 2017 to improve my physical strength and mental confidence. I have been training for nearly 5 years now, and have reached a 625lbs Squat, 400lbs Bench Press, and 650lbs deadlift. It is a very challenging sport, and it takes a long time to get better at it, but it is a journey of self improvement and is therefore very worth it in my eyes. The goal is to get as strong as you can, and see what your body is capable of. You can follow my journey on my Instagram Page.

I plan to eventually be an elite world class powerlifter, and will hopefully be competing sometime within the next year or so. Powerlifting is a journey of self-betterment, a way to improve yourself. That is such a huge thing. Self-improvement is how we become better people. It’s an amazing feeling when you finally crush a lift that you never used to be able to do.
